What We Do

Studies have shown that investing in girls is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. When girls are educated, healthy and empowered, they pull themselves, their children and their communities out of poverty.

Take care of a girl’s educational and basic needs. Support by funding their fees and school needs (text books, note books, pens, pencils, uniforms as well as feeding). When you sponsor a girl, you receive

  • Photograph of your sponsored girl
  • Child’s annual progress report
  • An opportunity to meet your girl

SFL wants to support girls in under-served communities through the application of mentoring. We invite professional ladies for mentoring sessions/career talks to educate the girls and also assign each girl to a steadfast mentor who will write to her, encourage her ambition, empower her confidence, and keep her on track by helping her set goals and work towards actualizing them. When we mentor a girl, she becomes a mentor to another, this will successively raise quality of life.

Rural girls both in and out of school receive academic support through a 2 hour class at the Academic Support Centre. Here, we teach them concepts in Math, English language, Science, Body Safety, Etiquette as well as Skills Acquisition to bridge the gaps in learning and enable them attain specific grade competency levels.
Giving girls the opportunity to become interested and stay interested in their health.  We provide them with in-depth information and tools about physical health and emotional well-being by organising variety of programs workshops  to make positive lifestyle choices that will impact the rest of their lives.
Body safety education is about providing children with information and tools they need to help keep them safe from CSA (Child sexual abuse). We teach body safety education across schools in rural areas for children ages 3-9 to reduce the occurrence of child sexual abuse.
WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)
Hygiene promotion and education to reduce spread of water-borne diseases,cholera prevention campaign and access to clean water. Addressing the WASH needs of children and provision of WASH facilities in schools will improve the lives of school children, provide direct and indirect benefits to the entire community, including health, education, and economic productivity.
It is our greatest joy to spread the love and give hope to the hopeless every festive season. We aim to bring smiles on the faces of people living in the rural area every festive season through; Organising Christmas party in their respective community halls and presenting each family attending with Christmas hamper.
